Cohutta Wilderness (Jacks River Falls)

As planned Luke and I went to the Cohutta Wilderness hoping to catch a black bear on video along the way. We got to the trailhead and I was suprised to see three vehicles already there. I knew the chances of seeing any bear would be slim. We didn't find the bears but we did have a great hike to Jack's River and the waterfall there.

excellent! excellent! ... you and luke put me right into the woods again.
I love journals such as yours that take us out on adventures into the world. THX Doug.. and ARF! (which means "you too, Luke")

Great video! It reminded me of the last time I went camping in the mountains here in NC. On that trip, I awoke at 3am to find 2 bears brushing up against my tent. I need to do that again.

Beautiful and evocative.

I normally put off playing any video blog that's longer than about a minute and a half, but I really look forward to yours.

It may be playing to stereotypes, but I can't help contrast those New York City videoblogs - full of rooftops, neon, and in-your-face opinions - with the slower, more considered pace of pieces lilke this one.

I've visited the USA twice, and both times I could not wait to get out of the cities. Now you've got me wanting to visit your green Southern lands, too.

Catching up on vlogs here. I liked this one very much - you've captured some really nice nature and for some reason I'm also a bit crazy about those shots from the highway at what ... 5 in the morning? - they make a nice contrast to the wilderness.

im one of them New Yrok videobloggers...but i was born and raised in TX.
it takes a certain person to go alone(even with a dog) into the wilderness.
and not hunt or fuck shit up.
appreciate.

Man, that takes me back! I haven't been there in several years. I used to go there every year and I took my boys there too. I live in Illinois now. Just makes me homesick. Thanks for what you gave me.

Niiice. Spent a ton of weekends in the Chattahoochee and Cohutta areas in hs and college. And fought that same ATL traffic to get there. The best times I ever had were in the Cohuttas with my homies. That inspired me to get to where I am now - Denver, CO. Great video.

Very cool video...
I wanted to post a link to a picture of a black bear that I took while hiking next on Jacks River Trail on April 21, 2007. It's a really cool pic... The bear just jumped out from the woods into the river just in front of us and I got a few pics of him and then he jumped up onto the trail in front of us and took off somewhere.
