Going Green in 2008!

The Southern Video Blog is going green in 2008. I have several new videos planned for 2008 and beyond all with a green theme and directed toward the environment and global warming. I'll take a look at hybrid vehicles and alternative means of transportation. I'll visit an organic farm and see how buying local produce can help to reduce your carbon footprint. I'll search out people that have choosen green lifestyles and show you ways that you can live a more environmentally friendly life. Stay tuned to the Southern Video Blog and GO GREEN!

Whitney thanks for your comment. We too have made steps toward reducing our carbon footprint by making our home greener. Using CF light bulbs, hanging our clothes out to dry on a clothesline, and adjusting our thermostat so our HVAC use less energy when we are not at home. If fact there are many simple ways we have adjusted our lifestyle to live more environmentally friendly.
One problem I have with systems such as bioheat is that it uses food sources for energy production and not food. This drives up the cost of food in the supermarkets. If these systems used biomass sources from agricultural waste it would be much better but even then you have to look at how the biomass may benefit the soil through composting rather than consuming it as an energy source.

I also agree we should all do our part to help our environment. No matter how large or small, we can all make a difference. There are so many different things that you can do sometimes it gets overwhelming so start small and in your own price range then go larger from there.
